 t\; is celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural fervor across Nepal.
  It typically falls in mid-April and marks the beginning of the solar Hin
 du calendar. This celebration corresponds to the first day of Baisakh\, t
 he first month of the calendar. Navavarsha is not just a time for festive
  activities\, but also a symbol of renewal\, inner reflection\, and the c
 ommencement of new endeavors.</p>\n\n<p>To celebrate\, our Nepalese stude
 nt group will be hosting the following festivities:&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<ul>\n	
 <li>Quiz about Nepal and its culture</li>\n	<li>Games</li>\n	<li>Serving 
 traditional Nepalese food: vegetarian and meat momos (a type of dumpling)
 </li>\n	<li>Dance and music: please wear traditional Nepalese clothing if
  you can&nbsp\;</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p>We invite students from all cultures&nb
 sp\;to immerse themselves in the experience of Nepali New Year at our eve
 nt.&nbsp\;</p>\n\n<p><u><strong>Nepali New Year</strong></u></p>\n\n<p><s
 trong>Traditional Festivities:</strong> The celebrations are rich with cu
 ltural traditions. Typical festivities include:</p>\n\n<ul>\n	<li><strong
 >Mha Puja:</strong> A ritual self-worship that is part of New Year&#39\;s
  celebrations among the Newar community\, emphasizing the purification an
 d empowerment of one&#39\;s soul.</li>\n	<li><strong>Bisket Jatra:</stron
 g> An exuberant street festival held in Bhaktapur and other towns\, which
  involves chariot processions\, tug-of-wars\, and other communal activiti
 es.</li>\n	<li><strong>Community Gatherings:</strong> Families and friend
 s get together to share festive meals and exchange gifts. Traditional foo
 ds like &#39\;Bara&#39\;\, &#39\;Sel Roti&#39\;\, and &#39\;Achar&#39\; a
 re commonly enjoyed.</li>\n	<li><strong>Cultural Programs:</strong> Local
  dances\, music performances\, and plays depicting the history and mythol
 ogy of Nepal are held. These programs are designed to promote the diverse
  cultural heritage of the country.</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong>Spiritual Si
 gnificance:</strong> Navavarsha is also a time for spiritual reflection. 
 Many Nepalese visit temples to pray for prosperity and attend various tra
 ditional ceremonies. It&#39\;s a day to cleanse the past year&#39\;s trou
 bles and embrace the future&#39\;s potential with optimism and hope.</p>\

 ating Navavarsha abroad is a poignant reminder of home and heritage. It s
