Did you know that before pumpkins were accessible in the UK and Ireland, people would carve root vegetables such as turnips as part of the All Hallows’ Eve tradition? With pumpkins being larger these have now become the favourite for carving jack-o'-lanterns around the world. Join us in a traditional pumpkin carving activity and take your finished pumpkin home at the end of the event to display.
You'll also get a four-hour burn time tea light to take with you. These are not to be lit on campus.
Each person will receive a double-edged safety saw for quick carving, a small detail saw for more intricate details, and a serrated scoop for easy pumpkin gutting. You'll also be able to pick from a variety of stencils, and cookie cutters to help you along. If you're feeling a little more creative, there will also be pens and pencils for you to sketch out a unique design.
Swap your student ID card for your tools and return them at the end of the event to get your ID card back.
