Black Students’ Officer

My name is Christopher Ok’Onkwo
I am a Computer Science student at University of East London
A local & resident in Tower Hamlets, A British African, born in West Africa.
 
I am running for the position of Black Students' Officer.
 
You the student is our focus, I would like your vote to make a difference, and  tackle various issues that include health, practical hands-on tools for career development, software licences for private devices, extra help with study focus and access to event facilities while networking with other London Universities.
Already understood the challenges and hardships of being a university student faced with over 300hours of self-study excluding course work and lectures within the British education system, considering some students has family obligations.
My main objectives include but not limited to:
1. Bring back a vibrant, transparent and accountable Student Union where students are aware of what’s going on.
2. Continue to support Free Printing & Hands-on experience lab (KD.2.28D) for all students (under faire usage), where students get to try real-world activities.
3. Promote Fiction nights, enriching our nightlife events.
4. An improved social life on campus, with longer opening hours for course work.
5. Work with other Peers to support Technology, Filming, Music, Fashion, Engineering, Sports, Business and other under represented study modules.
 
If elected as your Black Students' Officer, It is my desire and commitment to present your needs and challenge before the UEL’s equality policy makers.
