Course rep awards
Course representatives stand up for the students on their course and push for positive change. The role involves listening to your course mates and making change in areas such as the course curriculum and teaching, which means that reps can make a big impact on your educational experience.
We have five awards, presented to the best course representative in each school. These awards are for representatives who have shown outstanding commitment to student representation.
Use this form to nominate a course rep to win an award. You may only nominate the course rep for your course. Course reps are permitted to nominate themselves.
Criteria
An effective course rep should:
- Gather representative and constructive feedback
- Attend course committee meetings and share student feedback with university staff
- Meet with staff to check the progress of proposed changes
- Regularly communicate with students and keep them informed about feedback outcomes
- Meet with their school representative
- Signpost students to relevant services for non-academic concerns
Please provide detailed reasons for why this person deserves the award. You should give genuine examples that explain why they make such a good course rep, which relate to – but don’t copy - the criteria. It is not sufficient to say, for example, "they are a very good course rep".
Focus on impact more than simply describing the course rep’s actions. Consider the practical benefits of their work, and the lasting impact their actions have had on your time at the University. Many course reps collect feedback and attend meetings. It’s the resulting impact or evidence of exceptional effort that will set your nomination apart.
You may write up to 200 words. Please do not write your nomination using AI.
How to nominate somebody
Students can nominate their course representative or themselves if they are a current course representative.
If you're considering nominating your course rep, why not speak to your coursemates to submit a stronger joint nomination? Winners will be selected based on the evidence supplied in the nomination form, instead of the number of nominations.
To nominate a course representative, submit a nomination. The deadline for submissions is 12:00 (noon) on Monday 23 March.
