Disabled students at UEL are facing real barriers: delays to TLSRs, inaccessible teaching, unclear systems, missed adjustments, and the emotional weight of constantly having to justify needs.
The Students' Union's Disabled Students Group, led by Inclusion Officer Dipika Gokulnath, is a student-led space built to challenge that reality with dignity, honesty, and solidarity.
You do not need a diagnosis to attend. Whether you are disabled, neurodivergent, living with long-term illness, or simply struggling with access at university, this space is yours. All disabilities welcome. No proof required.
This year’s launch offers a calm, confidential, and respectful environment to share as much or as little as you choose, speaking openly, listening quietly, or writing anonymously. The focus of the discussion is on what’s not working around you, so that we can work to change it.
We won’t minimise your concerns or brush them aside. We will turn your thoughts into action.
What students share here will directly shape the Disabled Students Group’s priorities, and the change we commit to fight for. We will hold ourselves accountable to ensure what is raised is not forgotten. We will turn experiences into demands, demands into campaigns, and campaigns into results.
This is not feedback collection, it is collective action. We’re demanding change, because you deserve to learn without barriers, fear, or delay.
