Join us for a meaningful Republic Day celebration honouring India’s constitution and democratic heritage!

We’ll begin with the Republic Day unity walk with flags, where we come together to celebrate democracy and unity by walking with flags from SportsDock to West Building.

The celebration continues with a traditional flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the national anthem and a moment of respectful silence to remember the visionaries who drafted India’s constitution and shaped the nation’s democratic values.

Students from various Indian states and backgrounds join for this ceremony to honour our common heritage, celebrate our constitutional values, and share in this significant moment together. This event provides a warm, welcoming setting for celebrating together, whether you’re homesick or simply want to engage with Indian culture.

After the ceremony you need to get ready for exciting fun games! Starting with Dumb Charades featuring Indian movies, patriotic songs, and iconic cultural moments. Then compete in the lemon and spoon relay race where teams of two will pass a lemon from spoon to spoon without using hands. Finally, test your knowledge in guess the picture, where teams will identify famous Indian landmarks, personalities, festivals, and cultural symbols displayed on screen, generating massive fun and healthy competition.

Dress code: Any kind of traditional wear (saffron, white, green). Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing if joining the walk outside.

Tickets: Free for Indian Society members - non-Indian Society members must buy group membership to be able to attend.
