This optional training will help you better understand how the University responds to reports of inappropriate behaviour, so that you can feel more confident representing students on your course.
This 45-minute session, led by an Independent Sexual and Domestic Violence Advisor (ISDVA), will:
- Provide a clear overview of the University’s student conduct processes and what happens at each stage.
- Explain how to report inappropriate behaviour and what students can expect after a report is made.
- Introduce the ISDVA service and the specialist support available to students.
- Give an introduction to being an active bystander and how you can respond safely and appropriately in concerning situations.
This training has been created to help you confidently signpost students to get support. It is also a valuable opportunity to develop skills in communication, awareness, and active intervention – all crucial parts of this role and highly transferable skills outside of being a rep.

This training will help you better understand disabled students' varied experiences, so that you can feel more comfortable representing all students on your course.
This training will be led by the University’s Disability and Dyslexia Team (DDT). The training will:
- provide insights into the experiences and concerns most commonly raised by disabled students.
- explore different communication styles and learn how to appropriately signpost students to relevant support services.
This training is designed to help you confidently represent disabled students’ views, even if you don’t have prior knowledge or experience in this area. This is also a valuable opportunity to develop key skills in communication, awareness and inclusive representation, all vital for the role and your future career.
