Discover the rich history of Portsmouth, once the most fortified cities in the world. Explore ancient ruins, forts, naval dockyards, and castles that transport you back in time. Don't miss the chance to get up close to Henry VIII's flagship at the Mary Rose Museum, complete with interactive exhibits and Tudor naval artifacts. Take in breath-taking views of the city skyline from the Spinnaker Tower and learn about life below deck on the HMS Alliance and hop on a waterbus to the Explosion Museum of Naval Firepower.  

For a unique culinary and cultural experience, visit Pie & Vinyl for delicious pies and an extensive vinyl collection. Finish your day at Gunwharf Quays, a chic designer outlet on the waterfront with discounted shopping for all your needs.

Schedule

Bus will depart Stratford (bus stop ML, Water Lane, opposite the main entrance to the campus) at 08:00 and Docklands (main car park) at 08:25 and and arrive in Portsmouth around 10:30. You can join at either pickup point. The return trip will depart Portsmouth at 16:00, returning to east London around 18:00

Early bird tickets cost £8 until Tue 21 March, after which the price will increase to £11. Your ticket covers the cost of your travel to and from Portsmouth. UEL students only. No refunds except if the event is cancelled.

You are free to wander the city for the day; it is not a guided tour.
