What is Diwali?
Diwali is a beloved and widely celebrated festival in India, symbolising the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. It holds immense cultural, religious, and social importance, bringing people from all walks of life together in a spirit of joy and unity.
Event details
Our celebration will feature music, festive decorations, a dhol drum performance, traditional sweets and sparklers. We'll have music playing throughout so you can dance if you feel like it, or just sit and chat. There'll also be a bar where you can purchase alcoholic and soft drinks, as well as a professional photographer to take photos of you in your best outfits. We'll share a link for you to download the photos later!
The dhol drummers will perform at 18:00, and sparklers will be lit at the end of the event.
Only UEL students are permitted. You cannot take friends and family to this event.
